HIKE THE NOOTKA ISLAND TRAIL

Hike the ultimate marine wilderness of Canada’s west coast, near Vancouver Island.

This camping and hiking adventure holiday centers on a six-day backpack on the remote Nootka Trail on Nootka Island, off the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. We will fly you and your group in by floatplane to Nuchatlitz Inlet at the north end of Nootka Island, then embark on your journey through 35 kilometers of desolate, pristine beaches along the west coast to Yuquot (Friendly Cove) at the south end.

One of the few coastal hiking routes in British Columbia, this area is home to a great variety of marine and animal life, and features ancient village sites, waterfalls, sea caves and culturally modified trees. Travellers will see the west coast in its undeveloped state, as the West Coast Trail used to be.

If 35 km is a little long for your liking, we offer an abbreviated hike that begins by wheeled plane, landing on the beach at Calvin Falls (about halfway down the coast). Then, choose if you want to hike north or south, and our float plane will pick you up at the end of your journey.

There are no fees to hike the Nootka Trail, and there are many breathtaking camping areas along the way. A truly unforgettable holiday!
