NIGHT RATING

A Night Endorsement on a Private Pilot Licence allows the holder to fly during the hours of darkness in visual meteorological conditions under Visual Flight Rules. The minimum training hours are set out below and there is no flight test or written examination.

Estimated training cost (based on using a Cessna150 and minimum completion time):

5 hours instrument            @ $150.00	$750.00
5 hours dual                     @ $150.00	$750.00
5 hours solo                     @ $100.00	$500.00
2 hours ground briefings   @   $50.00	$100.00
Transport Canada Endorsement Fee	$  30.00
Total Estimated Costs: (Exclusive of GST, fuel surcharges may apply)	$2130.00

Note: If 5 hours of instrument time was NOT obtained during the Private Licence, you will require an additional 5 hours of instrument time. Instrument time is not required to be done during darkness hours.

 

 

VFR - OVER THE TOP

The VFR OTT rating allows the private pilot to fly above a solid layer of clouds in visual meteorological conditions, when visual reference to the ground is unavailable. Climbing or descending through clouds is not permitted, so conditions at your destination must be forecast to be good enough so a descent through cloud will not be required. Once again there is no test or written examination, and the holder of a commercial licence automatically has VFR OTT privileges.

INSTRUCTOR RATING

The Instructor Rating can be started after you have a Commercial Pilot Licence. Many pilots start their careers this way.

25 hours Ground School      @ $   50.00/hr.	$1250.00
